Monterrey Iron & Metal (MIM) is a metal and scrap recycling center located on Frio City Road, near Kelly USA Port San Antonio, in San Antonio’s south side of town. We bought our first truck in 1928 – and have come a long way since then! Our yard today encompasses over 30 acres of efficiently organized scrap, equipment, and crew. In 2016, we celebrated 100 years of recycling in San Antonio. We are South Texas’ original recycler.
Celebrating our centennial in 2016, MIM has managed to successfully navigate the ever-changing scrap markets while improving upon safety and efficiency.
With a full crew of mechanics, welders, machine operators, truck drivers, and managerial staff, Monterrey can handle more material with less downtime.
We have over 400 roll-off boxes, two heavy reduction balers, 12 cranes, eight roll-off trucks, four big rigs, 45 trailers, an automobile shredder, five shears (one of which is the largest in the state), and three 70-foot high-capacity scales, including a rail car scale. We also have a rail spur to the Union Pacific hub, which allows us to ship domestically and internationally via rail. Our 15,000-square-foot warehouse facility is equipped with a digital scale and forklifts to assist unloading.
Each of our over 80 employees plays an important role in the scrap recycling process and we are proud that many of them have been with us for 20 years or more.

I found their staff to be very helpful and friendly. I got in and out quickly and made was paid well for my brass. I would recommend this yard.
